Product description
For 2022, Bauer is introducing the new M1 hockey skate: a recreational-level variation in their transition from the Supreme S-series to the M-series of skates. This skate includes tech tailored specifically for the recreational and developing player, including a 3D poly carb quarter package, a metatarsal guard over the tongue, and a 13ft skate steel profile.
Skate Fit Profile
D (Regular) width. When deciding on a skate size, a good rule of thumb is to take the player’s shoe size and drop it by 1 or 1.5 sizes.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
The boot is designed specifically for the recreational player just looking to dip their toes in the game of hockey. The boot of the M1 is much more forgiving and wider than standard Supreme skates and those higher up in the line, making it easier for players to maneuver over the ice. The TPR outsole increases durability in the boot while keeping it comfortable.
Do note that this skate is specific for developing skaters just learning to skate. If you have a stronger skating technique and will be on the ice more often during the week, skates higher up the line will be better able to withstand that frequency and style.
Liner & Internal Padding
For the M1, Bauer used a microfibre liner along the inside to keep you comfortable and dry while you play. The boot further includes lightweight memory foam in the ankles to make the skate even easier to skate in.
Toe Cap
The M3 skate uses a standard toe cap to keep the construction simple and accommodate a wider variety of foot shapes and sizes.
Tongue
The tongue is made of an updated 30oz pro stock felt material with a mesh metatarsal guard. This combination of comfort and protection is designed to form fit around and over the metatarsus area for extra coverage, and the thick felt coupled with the tough exterior help shield the front ankle area of your foot from harm while you play. With the thinner tongue, stronger skaters may want to move up a level or two in skates to avoid excessive wear and possible lace bite.
Insoles
The footbed is made of die-cut EVA foam, which is a common cushioning foam found in most athletic shoes. The choice to use this foam increases comfort in the boot by adding a more familiar feel to the sole.
Steel Runner, Holder & Blade Profile
To hold the runner in place, Bauer implemented an LS Pro II holder, which is a standard option that does a good job at keeping the runner locked in place. The runner is made of stainless steel to keep it lasting longer, with a 13-ft profile. This skate radius is a bit longer than that on most standard blades, but it can really help make gliding and balancing on the ice much easier. If you want to learn more about profiling and the benefits of this radius, feel free to take a look at our page on profiling basics here.
Graphics
Keeping to the classic theme of the Supreme line, the M1 is mainly coloured black with a bit of shine and yellow graphics and accents. “M1” and the new Bauer logo are also on display above the ankles and heel.
